Jack Schaefer writes a story about a man named Shane who arrives at Joe Starrett's farm one afternoon, The Starrett family has no reason to feel threatened so they invite him in for dinner, excluding the Starrett family everyone in town is egger to run him out; Mrs.Starrett does think Shane is mysterious but is there something more, the most intriguing part of this novel so far is the lingering question, who is Shane and why do people fear him?
